WOYWW 119

Thanks again to Julia for organising this fun blog-hop where we all snoop on each other’s work desks and see what we are up to! Click the WOYWW link on the right to join.

WOYWW 119 14-9-11

I’ve been busy this week with two different activities, and I’ve made videos of both, which are now on Youtube.

The first one was an exercise to create a realistic-looking rust effect. I’ve done a blog post tutorial on this, complete with the video. You can see the piece I created at the front of my table, and at the back, most of the materials I used to create it – a combination of acrylic paints and gel mediums.

The other project was to start my mould making. I’ve been using Ranger Mold ’n Pour, but I’m not buying any more of this – you only get two very small tubs of the compound and it’s quite expensive for what you get. I’ve been exploring other options, and bought some stuff from Ebay, but when it arrived it was much too runny, and I’m trying to send it back, but as yet the seller hasn’t responded to the emails I’ve been sending him since Friday. On the right of my table you can see the moulds I’ve made so far, and in the centre, some of the items I used to create impressions in the silicone moulding compound.

Although I’ve made a video of this and uploaded it to Youtube, I haven’t yet done the blog post, but I should be doing that today or tomorrow, so watch this space!

Hope you’ve all had a good week and been nice and creative and productive, and wishing you all a happy WOYWW!

  3. I know people who buy and successfully use dental molding compound instead of Mold and Pour. I have tried their's and found it great but I have not yet asked where to buy it.

  7. This is Legend from Create With Joy! I SO enjoyed your comments, I came over to visit your beautiful cats personally! Being the enterprising kitty that I am, I went right to the Cats Archives and read all of the posts - I was sad that you lost one of your sweet kitties to a raging road beast, but enjoyed reading about your resident computer expert and seeing them soak up the sun in the birdbath (a privilege I am firmly denied as an indoor kitty!) Mom enjoyed poking around the rest of your blog but me? Show me more cats! :-)

  8. Sorry I am so late getting by this week but I wanted to pop by and visit your blog to say hello and to see what you are up to! Didn't have the time to post(except about newest Doswell addition) or craft the past two weeks due to being in Virginia visiting with the son's family to see the newest granddaughter born. Definitely a fun time none the less. Hope you have a great week. Vickie aka okienurse
