WOYWW 509 Who Gives a Crap?

Shoshi’s back! – and no, that’s not my sentiment! It’s the name of the new loo paper I’ve just bought!

Who Gives a Crap Loo Paper

My lovely friend put me on to this. It’s an eco firm that produces loo paper without any plastic, unlike the supermarket stuff that always comes wrapped in plastic. It’s recycled, and they also make a different one out of bamboo. It is 3-ply and very, very soft, and has a smaller core and the whole roll is slightly larger than the standard supermarket ones, so you get more, and it’s also cheaper! So it’s win-win all round. I just love the pretty papers each roll comes wrapped in, and you can see that I have saved some – my friend originally told me about this because she thought I could use her wrappers, and I decided to follow it up. I thought the papers could be ironed and used in projects, or for wrapping small gifts, etc. I really recommend this loo paper.

Dealing with the firm was sheer pleasure. I had such a fun email from them when the informed me the parcel was on its way, complete with a tracking number. They said they knew how hard it was to remember boring long numbers, and included a link to a Youtube video by a man who has a memory technique to enable him to remember pi to 100 decimal places!! Lol!

Anyway… my first visit on WOYWW for quite a while, and I thought that even if I haven’t got a thing on the creative front to show you, I’d better come back on because I miss you all.

I’ve been working hard on lots of new material for the Bible study group, which involves a lot of online research which takes massive amounts of time, not to mention collating it all and preparing slides, and also I have just started the mammoth task of replacing every single photo on my 8-year-old blog after Google messed up and they all vanished. I am at last able to publish blog posts with photos again – at least until Google decides once more, in its high and mighty way, to change things and leave us in the lurch again… So far with the photo replacement exercise, working backwards, I’ve done all of December of last year, and have just started on November. My hubby worked out that if I did one week’s worth every day, I’d complete the job in about 1 year 2 months!!! Still, that’s better than my first estimate, which was another 8 years. Either way, I don’t trust Google not to mess up and lose them all again… Talk about painting the Forth Bridge.

I’m not sure when I’m going to get time to get back in the studio again. As usual, in between my busyness, I’ve been extremely tired and have had to rest. I’m progressing quite well with the purple spotty knitting but not enough progress to warrant another photo just yet!

Kitties

A couple of the latest photos for you.

More hugs. They are a lazy lot. I wish I could sleep as much!

We think my hubby has fixed the garden defences now. They have been out in the garden quite a lot, and seem to be requiring less supervision than before, although Ruby has her moments, looking for any possible avenue of escape, however small! Sometimes she forgets about it and is happy running around and playing with her sister. When the spring comes we are going to get several catmint plants and put them around the garden, which will give her an added incentive not to wander. What my mum used to do was make a cage around the plant with chicken wire, staked well into the ground, so that it could grow through the holes. If you don’t protect it, the cats will simply roll in it and rip it up and kill it off really quickly! It’s like a drug to them and they can’t get enough of it. Before she made the cage, Mum’s plant was reduced to one little stem with a single leaf.

Health Update

Since I was last on WOYWW, I have had a letter from the hospital in Exeter with an appointment for me to see another colorectal surgeon there in April – my surgeon here at Torbay Hospital said in December when I saw him that he would value the opinion of a colleague, and this has now been set up. I googled the man and he’s got a brilliant track record (I knew mine wouldn’t choose anyone less competent and excellent than himself!!) and he also looks very friendly and nice. I feel a lot better about everything now, and much less reluctant to go for further surgery if that’s what he advises. I am very pleased with the care and attention that I have received from the beginning, despite all the problems I’ve experienced.

Finally, a cat funny for you.

  1. Your photo of the sisters asleep is nothing short of wonderful. What a lovely cuddle to witness, it must fill your hearts with joy. Glad Ruby is being contained and the cat mint sounds wonderful - wonder if there is some plant we can roll in that would have the same effect - and ease pain!
The loo paper is fabulous - might just have to Google that one.
Glad you are happy about the new guy in your life - good luck with the first and subsequent meetings
    Hugs, Neet 7 xx

  2. Happy WOYWW. Great to see you back. What a job sorting out the photos. I don't think I would have the patience. I have been having issues getting Dropbox to sync properly across all of my devices. When tech works it is brilliant, but then getting a photo onto this blog post took 15 minutes. I have got a new phone, and it doesn't seem to upload photos automaticaly like my old one did. Oh well, it keeps me busy! Ali x #11

  3. Hi Shoshi, good news about the surgeon. You have to like them, I do believe. Seen that toilet roll advertised on Facebook. I can remember the days when all toilet rolls came wrapped in paper, before all the 'better' new fangled plastic wrap took over! Great kitty photos. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

  5. Lovely to catch up with you Shoshi, and I had to laugh at the loo roll, although it looks great and I might track the company down and get some - we are trying hard to reduce our use of plastics, and every little helps. I love the piccies of the girls, they do look so adorable cuddling in their sleep. I am glad you are feeling happier with your hospital visits, it's very reassuring to find a caring and excellent specialist. I don't google them as I'm not sure what I could do if I didn't like what I found!

  6. Hi Shoshi, I’m pleased to hear things are going well for you health wise and you are being well looked after, I hope all goes well with you next appointment.
Funny how animals always like to get in a sunny spot, doesn’t matter what they lay on to do it.

  7. Hi Shoshi! I've been MIA for over a year now and finally got myself together enough to join today. Welcome back to you too! I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, although it sounds like you have a great medical team that is taking very good care of you.

I can't imagine going back years to repost photos that have been deleted by Google. I need to work on my blog layout as things have changed since I first set it up. I have a big learning curve, to say the least!

    Happy WOYWW

  11. Ah dear Shoshi, so glad that you found good loopaper, it can be atrial speaking from experience and totally concur re the excessive plastic, not good. I use a hypoallergenic one here in Oz sadly it’s inplastic I save for recycle all soft plastic but one never really knows where it goes?!!
Gla Dee appointment coming upa and I pray that right decision for you will be done. I’ve had medical issue where I’ve nearly died from medical incompetence. However I know it’s not deliberate but ignorance. My condition as yours prob is also, mine is very complex and not normal in shade or form. If I’m not conscious they don’t know where levels should be, unless they consult my GP which they don’t seem to do. I find that annoying. Anyway pray your decisions are for good.
    Happy belated WOYWW

  12. Hi Shoshi - well it certainly sounds like the word "boredom" still hasn't been added to your dictionary!! Hope you are getting enough rest between manic stuff, in order to get your strength back. Hope the appointment with the new guy goes well. All the best with all the new Bible study research.
    Take care. God bless.

  13. Hi Shoshi, thank you so much for your return visit - I'm sorry to hear you are having tooth trouble - I can sympathise as I've been having tooth troubles lately too, not nice at all. The blue beads I used are from www.totallybeads.co.uk - I am pretty sure they are Toho seed beads. I've always found them a great company to buy from but it's hard to resist their wonderful selection of beads -I always add far more to the shopping cart than I should!
Hope you get your voice back soon - how frustrating that must be. Have a great weekend,

  15. Hi Shoshi - here I am visiting three weeks too late! What a fun post with all the sweet kitty photos and that hilarious cartoon! Must look into catmint! I don't envy you for your task ahead of replacing all the lost photos - sounds like a huge job! Mind you, it's doable if you have all the photos saved in separate corresponding folders. Sorry for not visiting earlier - I've been on and off WOYWW as well - we just always seem to miss each other! I'll catch you one of these days xx
