WOYWW 385 Digital Fun

Again, nothing on my desk to photograph, because I haven’t really been in the studio this week. I’ve been playing with my new iPad Pro that came last week.

For full details, please scroll back down through my blog, but here are my first efforts using the brilliant art apps (Procreate and ArtStorm)– using the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil which is a truly awesome combination!

The above mandala, coloured:

and finally some early experiments in digital painting:

Still got a long way to go to be fully proficient but it’s all very intuitive to use.

Last week our WOYWW hostess Julia warned me that this thing would take over my life big-time and I think she is turning out to be right!

Health Update

I saw my surgeon on Thurs. and my scan showed I continued to be clear of cancer, which is a relief. However, it showed some small clots on my lungs and I have to take a low dosage of aspirin to thin my blood a bit. Nothing to worry about apparently.

No sooner was I over that weird cold-like bug than I’ve gone down with a stomach bug now and have been feeling quite poorly for several days. I’ve had griping pains and quite severe pain in the area around my stoma which caused my hubby to get in a bit of a panic and insist that I phoned the stoma nurse, which I did. They want to see me next week once I am no longer infectious (if it is a bug) and ascertained from my symptoms that it’s unlikely that I’ve developed an obstruction or a hernia. I feel as if I’ve been kicked in the stomach and generally feel poorly. I thought I was getting better yesterday but today I’m feeling really rough again.

Mum

It turns out that after several falls and my hubby saying her speech was slurred, and him fearing she’d had another TIA, that Mum has had the doctor and she has a UTI. She’s on antibiotics now. She had another fall yesterday because she is quite unaware of how unsteady she is, and refuses to ring her bell for help, and tries to get to the loo on her own. I am sure she will bounce back from this as she has from everything else!! My hubby says there’s a new lady in the home, in the room next to Mum’s who’s really cantankerous and even worse than Mum – (hard to believe that’s possible!) perhaps they ought to make them share a room!!

Happy WOYWW everyone.

  1. LOL, I didn't know the word 'cantankerous' - had to look it up. Your mum sounds like quite a character, but I know it's not much fun for people who are around her. Sorry about your tummy bug - hopefully nothing serious. I'm well-impressed with your digital skills, Shoshi! Those paintings look fantastic - I can't believe that's your first try! Your mandala is as beautiful as your zentangle. Did you copy and paste some of the repeating elements, I wonder? Happy WOYWW!

  2. Had to smile about the sharing of a room for your mum. Yes, a UTI can cause all kinds of problems as I well remember from when we used to visit an old lady who suffered with those infections on a regular basis. Often I thought Kath had had a mini stroke but it turned out to be a UTI.
Once again you are astounding us with those beautiful zentangles (f we are allowed to call them that) - I just wish I had the patience to do them myself but am afraid I don't seem to take to them. A bit like learning a foreign language - that also evades me.

  3. Hi Shoshi. Sorry you have been feeling so rough - trust things will start to improve soon, and that you will feel up to doing more and getting in your studio. You really ARE having fun with your new gadget, aren't you?!
Thank you so much for the lovely card you made and sent to me. I really appreciated all the hard work which had gone into it.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. oh, Shoshi!! not sure where to start... let's start with the positive; great news about the continuing all clear, and hope the stomach bug is just that and you get better soon. The tales of your Mum are so familiar as a friend went through very similar with her Mum; hope she recovers soon. Finally, the Ipad art work...wow wow!! I have always been a bit sniffy about digital art (mainly cos I can't do it!) but love what you have done! Have a good week - hopefully!! Helen #1

  6. Happy WOYWW. I have always wanted an IPad for the arty apps, and now I definitely want one! Your first attempts are brilliant. I think that Santa needs lots of hints from me in the next couple of months. Glad that your appointment at the hospital went well - but sorry to hear that you are suffering in the stomach area. Hope you are more comfy soon. I do worry about my parents (who are divorced). My dad is 76 tomorrow and fairly healthy, but he had a fall last year and broke his arm. His wife had a big stroke and is in a home now, so he is home alone. He would never tell me if he needed help. My mum is still very independent (she is 74), but in the past when she had medical issues I was living within a 2 hour drive and could go down to her every day. Not now and my 2 sisters are also a distance from her. It would be so much easier if we all lived in the same area. Ali x #27

  7. Your digital painting looks wonderful. Sounds like a fun thing to do. Also sounds like you're having fun with your Ipad Pro. I'm going to take a look at your previous post and see what else you've been up to.

Hope things improve with your mum

    Happy WOYWW

  9. Wow Shoshi, I can't believe you did all that art work digitally - I am so impressed - the zentangles and mandalas are fabulous and as for the landscapes, they are incredible. You must be having a wonderful time getting to grips with your new gadget!
I was so pleased to hear your are cancer-free - brilliant news for you but I'm sorry to hear you are suffering with this tummy problem. I'm thinking of you and hoping it's over with quickly.

  11. Wow! It's hard to believe that art was done on an iPad and not actually sketched out. It's really amazing.

I hope you get to feeling better soon and these strange bugs pass by without much incident. Same goes for your mom. It's really weird how UTIs affect older individuals. Perhaps the your mom and the other lady do need to be roomies, they could watch out for each other! :)
    Wishing you all the best

  14. I am astonished at the paintings you did on the ipad! I had no idea that they could be used to such great effect and I adore the mandala! I'm so sorry to hear that you've not been well though Shoshi, here's hoping that the new meds help take away the discomfort.
