WOYWW 364 Completed Projects and Our 30th Wedding Anniversary

As is often the case, I am between projects as we come to another What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday when we bare all and show our messy (or otherwise) creative spaces.

Mostly just stuff dumped at the moment.

A closer view. The multi-coloured sheet is my latest scratch sheet, where I clean off my brushes rather than waste all that lovely paint in my paint water jar, which you can see on the right, looking remarkably clean for me! This sheet will eventually be used for other projects.

On top of it is lying my sad heat gun which has given up the ghost. It started fading in and out a while back, and now it won’t work at all. I am intending to take it apart and see if there’s a loose connection that I can fix, but if I can’t find what’s wrong, it will have to be ditched. The blue one on the right is my old one which I am having to use for now – I don’t like it so much as it’s a bit fierce.

On the left is a piece of roofing felt which I was experimenting with – ironing it. It didn’t work nearly as well as Tyvek, but I think I can still probably use it for something. Above it are some spare flowers from my latest project.

I thought I’d really bare all this week and show you the chaos over the other side of the room, which I never seem to get round to tidying up. My sewing area is officially on the left where the sewing machine is, with storage around it, and on the right is supposed to be my drawing and fibre area but as you can see, not much of either has any chance of being done at the moment! On the floor are the three flower boxes with the narrow boat painting I’ve been doing, drying after their final coat of varnish. On the far left are the little silk flowers that will go in them.

Here are the finished boxes in all their glory!

40 Three Completed Boxes

And here they are, finally in situ on the front of the summerhouse.

01 Flower Boxes on Summerhouse

Yesterday was our 30th wedding anniversary, and I made this card for my hubby.

09 Completed Card

In the evening we went to Yum Sing, our favourite Chinese eatery. Yum Sing means “Cheers” in Chinese. Sitting on the table between us is Yum Sing (named after this place) – the baby panda stuffie my hubby gave me on Valentine’s Day. I had to guard my food or he’d have been after the bamboo shoots in a flash.

Health update: I’ve got an appointment with my oncologist on 2nd June, and I have to go to the GP’s surgery on Friday to have blood taken in advance of this appointment. The appointment with my surgeon went well, and as expected, he is very pleased with my recovery. They want me to have another CT scan at the end of this year just to make sure I really am cancer-free. I am feeling pretty good – generally a lot better than I’ve felt for years, now the ulcerative colitis is no more, but I have had a couple of bad days with my M.E. this week because of overdoing things.

On Thursday (my hubby’s birthday) we went to the County Show and had a wonderful day out – so much to see and do! I took loads of photos.

Have a great week everybody, with lots of creative flare and fun. Happy WOYWW!

  1. Hey Soshi. I'll come back and read your post in a bit. Just wanted to let you know I have you linked up at LLJ's. The / after your link was preventing the link-up. Soon as I dropped that off your link, worked right away. See you in a bit. Love and hugs! Kel #50

  4. Your flower boxes look really lovely hanging on the summer house! Real eye catchers! The card is blooming awesome - will check out your previous post for details! I had to smile at the photo in the restaurant - I can't believe you took your panda with you - that is so sweet! I didn't spot him at first. Take it easy, Shoshi - don't over-exert yourself! Some of the things you do would exhaust a person without any health issues! Hope your appointment will go well. Happy anniversary! Both wedding and WOYWW!

  5. Happy 7th WOYWW Shoshi, thank you for celebrating with us all! I'm sorry you had problems linking up, there's only been five deskers who have had issues with the link, everyone else seems to have been ok. There's no rhyme nor reason sometimes, but I do remember Julia having problems with last year's anniversary. Maybe Mr Linky wants to join in the party! Anyway, thanks to Kelly who, I believe, managed to do the honours.
What a fab pic of you and your hubby at the Chinese, you are looking SO well!! And I loved those barge art boxes you made, they were really beautiful :-)
    Hugs, LLJ xxxx

I love those boxes with the narrow boat painting on them! They look very bright and lovely in situ.
I am determined to visit everyone. I have dedicated today to WOYWW. (a freezer meal for hubby I'm afraid!)

  18. You two are so beautiful together. Happy Anniversary. Don't all the little kids want to tag along? Can't even sneak out for a Chinese dinner without the Panda. :) He's so cute. I really love that you took him with you. The boxes looks so beautiful. I love your desk. I love your sewing area. I know your thinking did she really see it? :) I do love that you have a sewing and fiber area. I need something like this but my room setup right now will not fit it. Love my room setup but would love an area for my fibers and fabrics. I will have to run this by my DH in tomorrow. Thank you for the inspiration. I was watching a YT video last night of a lovely talented crafter that was badly hurt in a relationship. Even though she was empowering her viewers the level of distrust she had about men broke my heart. I don't think she realizes that great sweet men exist. I love that you include your husband in your blog posts because he's one of the catches and sweet ones. I hope that women who have been badly burned find comfort and inspiration for us girls who do share our sweet husbands in our blogs, forum posts, etc... I have a sweet one too and twenty-one year marriage of best friendship to go with it.

    1. Thank you for all your sweet comments, Aiyana, and for your anniversary wishes. I am very blessed with an incredible studio, all fitted out how I want it. I am very naughty about not keeping it tidier, and I should spend more time in there, but somehow this year we've been busy, busy, busy for so long! You are right, I am incredibly blessed with my hubby who is one in a million. You don't know the half of it... He features so heavily in my blog posts because he's so important in my life! I am glad you are similarly blessed with yours.

      Have a lovely weekend,
      Shoshi

  19. Hi Shoshi, I've just popped back (apologetically late!) to say thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. I now can't see mine here so it doesn't look like you've received it - I know I commented earlier as I thought it was such a lovely photo of you and your hubby in the restaurant. Sorry about that - since Mircrosoft decided to upgrade me to Windows 10 without me wanting it to I've had all sorts of silly little problems - all of which my hubby says aren't anything to do with the upgrade, but I am convinced that as they've all happened since it's not just coincidence! Anyway, I think the flower holders looks gorgeous in their new home on your summer house, and I love your scratch sheet - that's a great idea, and one I'll try to remember to do next time I get messy in the studio! Honestly, two days away and I feel I have weeks of catching up to do!
    Diana xx
