WOYWW 153

It’s Worldwide Nosey Fest time again! What’s on YOUR workdesk this Wednesday? To join in the fun, click on the WOYWW link in my sidebar, which will take you to the wonderful Julia’s blog – she hosts our weekly blog hop where we share how messy (or otherwise) our creative spaces are.

Sorry I missed last week – I had a lot on my mind with health issues etc. and ended up being very exhausted on Wednesday and forgot all about it!

I am still waiting for my clay extruder to arrive, so my Choc-a-Bloc mixed media project is on hold for a while. Since my hand-drawing-zentangle picture I haven’t done any more zentangles. Feeling the urge to do more mixed media art, I’ve decided to start making albums (I will probably do a zentangle album once I’ve got enough decent stuff to put in it!) and my first one is to be a celebration of all my favourite paintings from the history of Western European art. I was hoping to have finished the first page to show you this week, but other commitments and lack of energy mean that I can only show you a half-done one. I have done a separate blog post about it so won’t elaborate here, but will just say that this page features the Arnolfini Portrait by Jan Van Eyck, painted in 1434, a picture which has long fascinated me.

The only thing I have done since my last post on the subject is to add some Glossy Accents to the detail image of the mirror.

Also on my desk you will see the acrylics I used for the background, and my gesso and the regular matte gel medium used for adhering the images. At the back is my bowl of little air-dry clay pebbles for my Choc-a-Bloc project. Also you can see my glamorous pot of brushes – one day I will get round to altering this!

Keep an eye on my blog to see progress on this page, and the many pages that will hopefully follow, which will give you a glimpse into my eclectic taste in art!

A very happy WOYWW, everyone, and thanks for all your comments on my previous WOYWW post. Thanks yet again to Julia for all her hard work organising us all. Have a great week, creative and otherwise!

  18. It's a constant temptation your desk..those pebbles are so like mints! Love what you're planning with the paintings album, and am late enough to have seen the finished post...marvellous stuff. Surprised your ideas and techniques alone don't wear you out!

  20. Hey! I [heart] your glamorous brush holder! I used to have something similar for the longest time, saying I would pretty it up at some point. I ended up picking up a desk pen organizer at a yard sale, but I don't knock those glamorous ones like yours. Your two pages are looking quite fab! Love the contrast of the darks and the metals.

  21. I've seen your finished piece as well as the one on this post and I think it is glorious! I love the colours and all the details. Don't be disheartened about your weight - draw a line and look forward, we can do it! We are on holiday week after next on a farm near Axminster / Chard and I fear I will be eating too much cheese but I hope the beautiful walks will help to burn it off! #53

  22. Wow, what an interesting work desk - I don't know how I would manage without matte gel medium - it's wonderful isn't it! I love the work you are doing and I've just seen the finished piece on your next blog post - it's fantastic - I love the dark colours and the 'feel' of it - really suits the painting you've chosen.
Thanks so much for stopping by my desk - I hope you have a great week.
