WOYWW 154

I can’t believe another week has gone by since our last world-wide nosey fest. For those not in the know, this is an opportunity to see each other’s work desks and find out how messy we all are! If you want to join in, click on the link in my sidebar and it will take us to our lovely Julia’s blog – she organises us all (or tries to!) and hosts this fun blog hop (thanks Julia!).

Sorry I didn’t manage to get round many desks last week – there are so many now that it is impossible to see them all and have some sort of other life as well – let alone actually do some creating!! Thanks to everyone who visited my blog, and for your lovely comments, all much appreciated. I made a new friend through WOYWW last week – Diana Taylor of Velvet Moth Studio – I did a special post about her because her work impressed me so much. Also this past week, it was M.E. International Awareness Day on Saturday and I did a special post about that, which took a long time and a lot of thought, because there’s so much that could be said! If you haven’t already read this post, I ask you please to do so, because we need to dispel the ignorance about this disease.

Since last week I have completed another double-page spread for my Fine Art Album, this time on Holbein’s “The Ambassadors.” Full details here. Here are the two pages I’ve done so far on this new project which I’m finding very exciting and extremely fulfilling to do.

Yesterday and today, I have been working on a mixed media card for my hubby, whose birthday is on Saturday. He is a keen metal detectorist and I wanted to make the card on this theme for him this year. I will be doing a separate post about this tomorrow (Ed.: Now done), when the theme of the card will be fully explained (we’ve had a lot of fun over this!) and also the final photos. For today I’ll just say that Sheba, my Black Cat Cougar cutting machine, did a superb job cutting the metal detecting man (free file on my SkyDrive if you want to download and use it) which I designed in Inkscape yesterday, and I’ve been having fun yet again messing about with my paints and acrylic gel medium to get the effect I wanted.

In the black plastic bowls are lots of images that I printed and then cut out by hand – hours of fussy cutting that gave me a neck ache! - (little coins in the front bowl) which have now been added to the inside of the card. Beside my bottle of acrylic polymer you can see my dirty paint water! Perhaps I should have emptied that before photographing my desk but this is supposed to be an “as is” photo lol! As you can see, I still haven’t got round to altering my extremely posh pot for my brushes!

We’ve got quite a bit on this week so I’m not sure how many desks I’ll get round – we’re hoping to go to the Devon County Show on Thurs. which is always a brilliant day but it will be a long and exhausting one. Have a happy WOYWW, everybody, and a happy, creative and productive week.

  2. I know the feeling of not getting around all the blogs, I manage about 70 a week if I am diligent.
Your book looks awesome and coming along great. Is there anything you can't do??

  3. I peeked at your finished card for Hubby. Wow, what a labour of love! All that fussy cutting would have left me cross eyed and screaming, lol!! Lovely art journal too, an art journal about art, how novel!

  9. Love your journal. I saw the Holbein on a visit to London many moons ago and was impressed - very clever use of the skull to make you think. Just looking at your husband's card and it is wonderful - all that hard work with the scissors paid off.

    Thanks for dropping by.

  10. So when do you sleep Shoshi? Or don't you?

There's not a chance that I can visit everyone so I need to come up with a plan. I wish not only could I visit everyone's desk in WOYWW, but also to read some of the other posts that they've done. I'd have to give up sleep to manage all of that...but I am going to read you're M.E. International Awareness Day post.

It's Thursday here now so I hope you're having a great time at the Show.
Thanks for sharing ~ enjoy WOYWW Neesie #59
