I know we always say it, but I can’t believe another Wednesday has come around so quickly! Time to nose around each other’s work desks again – for the uninitiated, hop over to Julia’s blog to see how to join in the fun (see the WOYWW link in my sidebar).
Here’s my desk for today.
I had thought I would have had a bit more knitting to show you this week, but in my usual foggy-brained way, I have made so many mistakes and had to redo them, so the state of play this week is that I’ve almost finished the bottom border of the back. Only a few more rows of pattern and then it’s the long haul, knitting plain colour up to the armholes. At least that won’t tax my brain quite so much!
Also, over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been experimenting with leaf printing. This is an idea I got from my friend Ryn (she’s the one who designs those gorgeous stamps, including the water droplets one) – I have not been quite as successful as she was, with my first attempt – it’s all got a bit spotty (mould?! Lol!) but I shall try again with some different kinds of leaves.
Finally, I have started another page in my Art Journal, this time for Remembrance (it is Remembrance Sunday next week). There’s still quite a bit to do on this page but it’s coming on quite nicely, and I’ll be posting about it when it’s finished.
I’ve been busy scanning photos most of this week, and have now emptied a box, so I’ve now got a bit of room for my feet under my desk! Woohoo!
Julia of Ju-North blog asked to see some pics of Shoshi as a sproglet, so here goes:
April 1955 – nearly 2 years old:
This one was taken in 1956. I’m the one on the right, aged 3, with my big sister. My mum made our little dresses, and did all the smocking.
May 1957 – Aged 4 – with my grandmother:
Finally, my first day at school – May 1958, aged 5:
Anyone else brave enough to share “mini-me” pics of themselves?
Have a great week, everybody!
I like the leaf printing, it's really neat. Your pictures are great! I'll share mini me's in December for my birthday!

Awh, how cute were you. Those photos are fabulous, it's lovely to go back and see old photos. Your journal is looking fabulous, that plane is so good. I hope we get a close up when it is finished. Knitting is not a thing I would like to do, you are very clever doing all those patterns.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Morning. Great to see the goings on in your world this week. Love the look of the journal page already. It was fun to see the younger photos. I'm not going to join you in sharing mine though!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week.
Great pics! I think it's safe to say you've changed a bit but I'm sure still as lovely as ever!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos, Shoshi. I love the one with your Gran and I had to smile at the dresses. We had some very similar made by my Mum!!!
ReplyDeleteYour remembrance page is looking great. I shall be back to see the finished project.
Happy WOYWW

Hi Shoshi, I'm so sorry I haven't been around so much.
ReplyDeleteYour desk is looking busy as usual. Your knitting will keep you warm while you work on it and then after it's finished too of course.
Your remembrance page is looking fantastic even as it is.
It must be nice to be able to stretch your tootsies out under your desk again, haha.
Take care and have a fab WOYWW :0) Mo x
What an inspiring journal entry! Great page. I think you have posted the wrong link as I ended up on your October post first :)
ReplyDeletePlease hop by my desk #87 Lauren x

How fun to see the pictures of Shoshi as a "sproglet!" :) Thanks for sharing. Happy knitting to you.
ReplyDeleteHi Shoshi. Great pics - love looking at old photos. Leaf prints sound fun. Enjoy being creative - and using the gifts Father God has given you. Thank you for visiting my site last week.

I really like the way you 'Remembrance' page is coming along. I used to do leaf printing with the children in my Nursery, but we were not very sophisticated in our approach!
ReplyDeleteI was pleased with my results when I put leaves through my cuttlebug though.
I have turned my hand to working with wool this week, so that is on my desk instead of paper crafting today.
Have a good week. Hugs, Kate x #72
Your remembrance day journal page looks good and I love those photos of you as a child.

Hello!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be one wonderful sweater when you have finished! I love your journal page - we have Veterans' Day tomorrow (Sunday) here in the US. Remembering all those brave men and women who fought to keep us safe and those still out there putting their lives on the line for us every day. Wishing you a happy week!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane

A really enjoyable post - love all those photos of you too. My mother smocked all my dresses too. I'd love to share pics of me but, as my parents divorced, I have very few photos - I'll have to have a rummage and maybe even get around to scrapping them too.
