WOYWW 418

Against my best intentions to finish some of my UFOs (UnFinished Objects) before starting something new, I have started something new. Ah well.

I have started a new mini-album – this time a small one, which I should finish fairly quickly. More will be revealed later, but for now, what you see on my desk is the pages, made of hand-made paper, which have been painted with clear gesso ready for painting. On the left is a scrap piece of the same paper, treated with various substrates to test which would best prevent bleed-through – the paper is very porous. Apart from that, just the general detritus of an untidy desk. Same old, same old.

It’s been another pretty busy week, and I didn’t manage to join in WOYWW last week. I was beginning to get frustrated with my no-art status.

  1. Your hand-made paper looks fantastic Shoshi! I bet it has some lovely textures. I haven't been around much either - will work my way back on your blog to find out what's been going on. I saw you'd lost Phoebe - I'm so sorry! I can only imagine how you're feeling at the moment - but remember she had many happy years with you and that's what counts! Thinking of you xx zsuzsa

  4. What an interesting idea for a journal. Did you hand make the paper yourself or is it some you have bought? I look forward to seeing how the pages turn out. I have plenty of UFOs of my own so I'm glad to hear it's not just me. Have a good week. Sarah #8

  5. Beautiful paper... can't wait to see the mini :)
How is Beatrice coping now? I was glad to see she was accepting cuddles again, but it must be quite a confusing time for her.

  10. I LOVE it when my best intentions aren't the only ones to go south!! Ah, what the heck, just go with the flow, the UFOs have a habit of getting on your nerves and forcing you to finish them in the fullness of time.

  12. Thank you for visiting my blog and your kind words about Harry the Cat, we rally miss him. I'm so sorry to hear that you've lost a cat too - they don't half worm their way into your heart. We're giving our other cat Ron a lot of fuss as he knows something is very different and needs to be near us a lot more.
I'm liking the look of your handmade paper, that's something I've never tried doing!
    Hugs, LLJ 11 xx

  13. Fabulous post,
Sorry for the delay in commenting, laptop trouble. It's died on me and I'm in a bit of a flap.
On a positive note, my Dear Husband plans to buy a replacement for me.
