Another week gone by and still no activity on Shoshi’s desk.
The bad news is that my surgery, which should have taken place this afternoon, has again been postponed (see my previous post) – owing to my surgeon having to deal with a family disaster of some kind. I am sure that he will put me back at the top of his list as soon as he is able to return, and I can imagine how he is feeling, having had to put me off twice.
I was confused and frustrated on Monday when I first heard about this, but I am now feeling a lot better about things. It’s a pest being back in Limboland with no date, because I can’t make any practical arrangements. I’ve been here twice before and it’s now getting pretty boring. Anyway, hopefully we will hear something soon, and I am now anxious to get on with this because the cancer cannot be left indefinitely. I am now more than ready to go in and get this over.
Here’s another kitty pic to keep you going!
This is Sophie, my very first kitty after I left my parents’ home to set up on my own. She was born in 1979 and lived to be 16. She was completely crazy and the vet said she had a tortoiseshell brain as well as a tortoiseshell coat – mixed up brain and mixed up coat – apparently torties are often like this. She was so confused that she sometimes used to purr and growl at the same time! She could go rigid with rage and used to hiss and growl with the best, but she could also be extremely loving and affectionate, and I loved her to bits. She had kittens when she was a year old and I watched them being born, which was quite an experience, and after that she did settle down a bit mentally, but not much!
Oh Shoshi, how frustrating for you, yet again. I hope they get you in soon and stop all this hanging around. I was called in last Wednesday at very short notice and had my small op done - I didn't have time to get really anxious as it all happened so quickly. I am still feeling a little odd because of the pain killers, but I thought I'd try and get back into the gentle art of blogging - distractions help take my mind off the discomfort! Good luck with getting another date, I'm thinking of you (and now feeling slightly guilty that I've been 'done'!)

What lovely memories our pets give us!
ReplyDeleteSoo sorry to hear about your surgery but must say 'well done' for being so upbeat about it. Continue to fight.

Oh no, so sorry you are having to wait again
ReplyDeleteSoshi. I am a believer that everything happens for a reason; sometimes we never find out what that reason really is. My favorite stamp, "everything will be okay in the end; if it isn't okay, it isn't the end. hugs to you
Now this is really making I don´t know what. I feel a bit like Sophie, I believe. Mostly it makes me angry. What an organization. I cross all fingers, toes whatever is possible that you get your (fix) date for surgery. If you have a look at my blog, the little story might amuse you a bit.

Oh Shoshi I have only just heard that it was cancelled again how frustrating .... But I suppose the surgeon couldn't hrlp whatever it was and will he back on track soon.... You know we are all thinking about you.
ReplyDeleteBest advise is get your stash out and even if you don't feel like making anything.... Just play with it a little bit to take your mind off the op .... You never know what you might do
Janet @14
Oh Shoshi, not again! How frustrating. I can't imagine how you must feel. I hope it can be rescheduled soon. We're thinking of you and praying for you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, (try anyway)

Bless your heart! As is said in Psalms 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers His people out of them all." We have a tortoise shell cat, whose coat is completely brindle, and my girls say that she can be bipolar sometimes. However, she's a real sweetheart most of the time. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family, my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say about an other trip to Limboland! We are all right there with you, and your upbeat attitude does nothing but GOOD to your body and soul.
ReplyDeletePets are the most wonderful family members, even the grumpy ones...LOL
Sending hugs and prayers

I do hope there will be a new date set for your surgery soon! Hang in there...I keep my fingers crossed it will all be soon over! Happy woyww and a big hug from Holland, Marit #45
ReplyDeleteWell now I'm completely frustrated for you! Good grief. And all I can think is they would never put you off like this unless it was physically okay for you to wait a little more. However, mentally and emotionally, it must be beating you up! My heart is with you, and each day is going to be challenge you can conquer with your mind and spirit until you get over the finish line and get it done. And I agree with Janet...sort through your stash, dream a little, sketch a plan of what you want to make, and just distract yourself happily as possible. Hugs! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #53
ReplyDeleteI really cannot believe they have done this again. You must be absolutely fed-up.
ReplyDeleteHope it gets sorted soon.

Shoshi, that is bad news, another cancellation. Get the stash out and have a rummage, like Janet says, it will make you smile a little bit I am sure. Love the story about your first cat. My first cat lived to 21 - she was CRAZY too :) Cx #60
ReplyDeleteTortoiseshell brain! We're on our 2nd tortoiseshell cat now and we call it Tortie-Tude. Lots of cat photos on my blog today. No, I'm not ignoring the elephant in the room I'm just staying clear of the back end fall out...LOL!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I'm sorry to hear about your surgery getting rescheduled AGAIN. So frustrating! Judy #64
Sorry to hear about your extended stay in Limboland. My first cat Lexis lived to be 16 and his sister Ipsa would you believe 20. They were both pure breed Siamese and different as night and day. We have two brothers now, and they really help on days when I'm feeling down.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, stop on by, Pat #63
I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery was delayed once again. I'm sure it's terribly frustrating. Heck, I feel frustrated for you! Your kitty looks beautiful and her temperament reminds me of one of my cats, Wiggle. She had kittens early on and it made her a little nuts. Anyway. . .here's hoping they can get you re-scheduled very soon and you can be on the mend in no time. Best wishes and prayers coming your way!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your surgery has been put off yet again. You are still in my prayers and I'm hoping when your physician returns he will be fresh and a clear mind to take care of your illness. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it when I read a comment someone left for me today, when they said you'd had your surgery postponed again! I think you are being very reasonable about it (although, in truth, there're no point getting cross, is there, lol!) I really really hope it's third date lucky! take care, we're all thinking of you. xx Helen 11
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you operation has had to be cancelled, it must be so frustrating . I do hope you get another date quickly & get it over & done with . Sending you a big (( hug)). Xx. Happy woyww Jill # 27
ReplyDeleteHello Shoshi. Thanks for the email and news last evening. I will get back - I really appreciated all your hard work on my behalf! Your critique was thorough!!! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteEvery blessing. I'm sure you don't feel much like creating anything, or settling to anything, just let your body dictate at the moment.
Take care. Love to N.
God bless you both.

hopefully limboland will be a very quick pit stop before they can get you taken care of. I have never heard of that tortoiseshellbrain haha. its always funny what you do pick up visiting desks, she was a gorgeous kitty thought. (( hugs )) ~Stacy #59
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that your appointment has been cancelled. I know the feeling of frustration. Surely there is a back up team who can do the surgery? I know my mums surgeon has a whole team who can step in when emergencies arise. I hope they sort another date for you very soon. Love and hugs Anita #58
ReplyDeleteRotten news about the delay….hope you can have a crafty play - or maybe gather something up to take in when you do get a date! Oh how I love cats! Happy memories! Chrisx 47
ReplyDeleteHugs Shoshi, just know that we're all thinking of you, sending our love and good vibes, bit trying though. RobynO#24
ReplyDeleteOh Shoshi, the Lord really is teaching you patience, so frustrating for you all though. Praying for you that your next appointment will be very soon and the consultant can concentrate on you 100%. Lots of gentle virtual ((((((((hugs)))))))) coming your way.
ReplyDeleteChris
I just went to your cancer page to get updated and I am glad that you sorted out that concern with your mother and seem to be taking this challenge quite well. I do hope you will finally get the surgery done with no more postponements (I found it interesting that over there your surgeon is called a Mr. Over her they are also Drs.). Sending you a big hug and prayers for your healing.
